WHMIS Changed? (Group Course) Copy
- WHMIS was changed to include the Global Harmonization System (GHS) of classifications and labelling of chemicals in December of 2018
- GHS is a uniform worldwide system that classifies and communicates about chemicals.
- GHS does not replace WHMIS but changed our WHMIS.
- Changes included:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Controlled products are now called “hazardous products”
- New hazard classes and categories
- Format has changed on items such as the supplier label
- Standard language is used
- In order to add GHS to WHMIS 2015, Canada amended the Hazardous Products Act and created Hazardous Products Regulations.
