
Column 1 – Shipping name. It’s okay to change the word order as long as its still makes sense example: “Air, Compressed” can be “Compressed Air”. Definition: N.O.S.: Not otherwise specified.
Column 2 – Is used around the world an as an ID number for shipping. Ie. Acetone is UN 1090 around the world even when the word Acetone is different in many language.
Column 3 – Class Number
Column 4 – Packing groups. More information on this is under the packing group topic.
Column 5 – Shipping names that have special provisions 16 beside them in the list need extra information. This information is the technical name of the main ingredient in brackets
Column 6 – Quantity limits that are referred to in various exemptions. a) refers to kilograms or litres b) shows the code for maximum quantity that can be transported under special rules for expected quantities.
Column 7 – Quantities above this amount require a government approved emergency assistance plan or ERAP.
Column 8 – Maximum quantity per means of containment that can be transported on a ship
Column 9 – Maximum quantity (for each containment) that can be transported on a bus or a passenger train.
