Definitions

Emergency Response Guide:  is written for first responders such as police, firefighters and paramedics.  It lists dangerous good by shipping name and UN number.  The ERG describes potential hazards and recommends emergency procedures.

Shipping document: A shipping document contains detailed information about the dangerous goods in the shipment.

Marking: The shipping name and UN number appear on each container.

DANGER placard:  Placards are large safety marks displayed on vehicles to show the type of dangerous goods.  The DANGER placard indicates a mixed load.
