Who Enforces TDG Regulations?

1. Police Officers
2. Weigh-Scale Operators
3. Dangerous good inspectors

The above authorize can search shipments, take samples, make copies of documents and even seize shipments. Inspectors can inspect facilities but most enforcement takes place on the roadways.  Inspectors can check:

1. training certificate
2. shipping document are present and correct
3.  products are labeled and marked are correctly
4. correct containers have been used and are in good condition
5. loads are secured

The penalty for not complying can be anything from a fine to jail time.  Anyone involved can be charged from an employee to the president.  The best defence is to prove “Due Diligence” which means that all reasonable precautions to comply with the law were taken.
